My Cozmo pump should have been on its way this week...it's not. Insulet is driving me crazy! They are trying to negotiate with our insurance now, and its becoming a hassle for me. I am back on my MM722, and I am really not happy. I had run out of pods, so I had to switch back or go back to shots. So, after all the fighting, they sent us pods. We got them in the mail today. I can't keep switching back and forth like this, my blood sugars are going nuts! So our insurance company is still trying to get another pump approved for me. I am having second thoughts about the cozmo now. I am trialing an Animas 2020, and I really love it. It's green, lol. I never thought I would want to go on an Animas pump, but I fell in love with this one. It has the SAME features of the MM, plus an added food database. It has smaller dosing, and a wonderful screen, plus, its waterproof and its pretty tiny compared to my 722. Does anyone have any comments on any of the Animas pumps? Did you switch from a MM to an Animas? If you are on the Animas, would you choose their pump again when the warranty expires?

Malyssa-

My son has been using the Animas 1200 for a little over three years.

(Main difference between this model and the 2020-- it doesn't have the color screen and the food database... )

Joseph LOVES his pump-- the look and feel of it, ease of use, the small size, the tiny dosing, and the Inset infusion sets (we tried Quicksets at a camp, and Comforts when we saline tested the Cozmo-- weren't fond of either).

Now, the only problem we've had with the Animas has been reliability-- we are on our sixth insulin pump due to various problems.

Though I must say that replacements (with one exception early on) have been sent out fast, and customer service has been stellar.

So, will we get another Animas next winter?

Well, I really would like to get a CGMS (Joseph never feels his lows overnight, and is starting to miss some during the day!). But I don't want our son to have to wear a separate device.

Currently Minimed is the only company that provides the pump CGM combo, but I know that Animas is working on one (with Dexcom)...

So my to your question is:

I'm not sure.

(But if Animas' CGM/pump combo were available now-- I'd say yes.)

Hope this helps...

Take care,

Sandra

p.s. Thanks so much for commenting on my blog-- and a belated welcome to the Diabetes OC! I'll add a link to your site this morning. :-)

Thank you, and yes, it helps very much!! I tried the cgm from Minimed, and I didnt like it. The insertion needle is HUGE! And it flopped around a lot. I really do like the Animas pump a lot, especially compared to the Minimed. I think it will definately be worth the wait until dexcom and Animas are integrated in my opinion. But everyone is different. And I understand about the lows...I rarely feel them anymore. If I didnt wake myself up at 2am to check every night, I probaby wouldnt catch most of them. And this brings me back to this past Sunday. I tested before dinner and I was 43. I didnt feel a thing, and I actually felt very normal. Scary stuff.
